Correct prayer
Chanting is not just about reciting any verse or mantra. In reality, proper chanting involves more factors. That’s why many people have been chanting incorrectly all along and have not received the results they desire.
1. Paying Respect – Bowing and Prostrating
Bowing and prostrating with gestures that express respect and composure toward what is worthy of reverence, sitting in an appropriate posture, and placing the hands together at chest level are considered acts of bodily merit.
2. Chanting Aloud
To praise the virtues of the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha with clear and articulate pronunciation, using correct enunciation, is considered an act of verbal merit.
3. Establishing the Mind in Concentration
To reflect on the virtues of the Buddha, the Dhamma (his teachings), and the noble qualities of the Sangha (his disciples) is considered an act of mental merit.
